ABOUT
An experienced design professional with an extensive background in residential work, Ms. Shapiro has successfully managed large-scale projects, fostering positive working relationships with numerous city agencies and enforcement jurisdictions. Being a highly organized and detail oriented designer and project manager, Ms. Shapiro works well in close relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors.
The houses Ms. Shapiro has designed are for both developer-contractors and private homeowners in and around Los Angeles. Working on Additions, Renovations, and New Builds, her projects range from 300 SF to 12,000 SF.
Before starting her own design firm, Ms. Shapiro worked as a project manager at Eserts Architecture & Interiors, in Santa Monica, CA, helping high-end residential design clients create their dream homes in the Malibu and Beverly Hills areas of Los Angeles.
In Massachusetts, Ms. Shapiro worked on transportation design, including airport parking structures and car rental facilities & T-stations around the Portland, ME and Boston, MA areas. She also did work rehabbing old hospital buildings into senior care facilities, and designing numerous homes in the Boston suburbs.
While at Ives Architects, Ms. Shapiro worked on environmentally friendly buildings such as the Cambridge Sustainable Design Project (now The Sabbatical House), and The New England Wildflower Society. Such work included the use of trombe walls, radiant floor heating, grey water reuse strategies, solar water heating, and environmentally sensitive material selection.
Ms. Shapiro received a Bachelor of Architecture from Roger Williams University, Rhode Island, in 1994. Thesis: Urban Sustainable Design
She is a Massachusetts licensed Architect, and practiced architecture for 10 years on the east coast, before continuing her career in California since 2003.
